Rank:Assistant ProfessorDepartment:Public HealthStarting Date:Fall 2024 Minimum QualificationsAn earned doctorate (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, etc.) in Public Health or a closely related field is required. ABD applicants will be accepted; Ph.D. must be completed before employment start date.The candidate should have a demonstrated record of success in teaching and research commensurate with the qualifications for Assistant Professor at CSUSM.Experience in teaching, research, or other creative activities, and the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus is required.Candidate must have experience working with college-level students and practical experience in preparing manuscripts and grant proposals.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated ability to teach and apply public health practice and research toward one of our offered concentrations in Health Promotion or Global Health.The ability to collaborate with other faculty to develop, implement, and evaluate community-engaged research and service learning projects is highly preferable.Preference is given to applicants with demonstrated multicultural intelligence and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and/or service.RESPONSIBILITIES:Key tasks may include (but are not limited to):Serves as classroom faculty and teaches graduate core and concentration courses, including those with a focus in health promotion and/or global health.Works with faculty and staff to assist in the development of overall plans and strategies for the public health department.Serves as chair or member of theses or graduate capstone project committees.Collaborates with faculty in academic advisement, mentoring, and counseling of students and in the coordination of practicum and integrative learning experiences.Facilitates faculty and student exchanges in public health research including grant applications for external funding.Participates in communications with community partners/collaborators, community leaders, and scholars.Serves on program, school, college and/or university committees at CSUSM.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $6,667 - $7,084 per monthCSU Classification Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 per monthApplication ProcedureClick Apply Now to complete the CSUSM Online Employment Application and attach the following documents:Cover letter that addresses the above qualifications, including statements of teaching expertise and research interestsCurriculum vitaeUp to two (2) samples of written work (e.g. representative publications)Up to two (2) samples of teaching artifacts (e.g. syllabi, assignments, rubrics, etc.)Course Evaluations from students for previously taught coursesContact information for 3 professional references.
