The Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for spring 2025 to teach MSW 653: Advanced Social Work Practice in Schools II. The course is a 3-unit class, has one 3-hour class each week of the 15-week semester , and is taught in a 100% online format (however, applicants must perform the work required for this class in the state of California).
Course Description:
Addresses the specific knowledge and skills required for advanced social work practice in a school setting. Examines roles, responsibilities and the functions of a social worker in educational settings to promote well-being and system change. Emphasizes meeting the needs of diverse student populations and families from a macro-practice perspective. Course content is designed to meet and exceed the Pupil Personnel Services Credential Program Standards set forth by the State of California.
Minimum qualifications:
Master of Social Work degree
PPS credentials in School Social Work and Child Welfare and Attendance
Extensive experience (4 years or more) as a school social worker
Experience in supervising students in the school setting
Knowledge of related state regulations
Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Experience with child welfare services
Experience in teaching university classes and with instructional technology.
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:$5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
CSU Classification Salary Range:$5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
