The Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Spring 2025 to teach OM 613: Descriptive Analytics and OM 615: Advanced Predictive Analytics. OM 613 and OM 615 are the first and second courses in a three-part series covering descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
Course Descriptions
OM 613: Descriptive Analytics
This course is the first course in a three-part series covering descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics. This introductory course focuses on descriptive analytics, which uses historical data to generate insights and prepare for further analysis. The course covers data warehousing, business reporting, and visual analytics, including subjects such as data query, descriptive statistics, data visualization, dashboard design, and descriptive data mining. Students will implement these techniques using R, a free statistical software. By the end of the course, students will gain an understanding of business analytics, data warehousing, and descriptive analytics tools, and apply these concepts to real-world scenarios, including dashboard design and visual analytics.
OM 615: Advanced Predictive Analytics
This course is the second course in a three-part series covering descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics. The course introduces students to essential business analytics concepts and tools used across various industries, focusing on predictive analytics techniques that use past data to forecast future trends and assess variable impacts. The course covers topics such as data mining, predictive modeling, classification, clustering, association, artificial neural networks, and an introduction to machine learning. Students will utilize R, a free statistical software, for implementing analytics techniques. By the end of the course, students will understand predictive modeling, supervised and unsupervised learning, and be able to apply these skills to real-world problems through hands-on projects.
Minimum qualifications:
A master's degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field

Teaching Experience in Business Analytics areas
Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:$5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
CSU Classification Salary Range:$5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
